About PHMTA
The Port Huron Music Teachers Association (PHMTA) has been a vital part of the Blue Water Area in Port Huron, Michigan for over 50 years.
Our goals are to provide enrichment and continuing education for member teachers and students. We also promote friendship and mutual support among our teachers, knowing that some of our best education and enrichment comes from our colleagues in the music education field.
The Port Huron Music Teachers Association includes piano, vocal, strings, and other instrumental instructors. Our membership currently stretches north to Deckerville, south to Algonac, and west to Capac.
The only requirement for joining the PHMTA is an interest in teaching music. However, we are affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the Michigan Music Teachers Association (MMTA). It is necessary to join all three organizations because of the state and national requirements.
We welcome you to attend meetings at no cost, as a guest, for one year before becoming a member. Our monthly meetings are held on the third Friday of each month at 9:00 a.m. from September through May omitting December, at the Griswold Street Baptist Church, 1232 Griswold Street, Port Huron.
